200px-Lovage.jpgThis album was produced by Dan the Automator and features, not only Mike Patton, but the incredibly sexy voice of Jennifer Charles (Elysian Fields) as well as appearances by Kid Koala, Damon Albarn of Blur and Prince Paul.

I’m not one for having music playing during sex. But if I had to, if I had to pick one album to play when the lights are low and the mood is right, it would be Music to Make Love to Your Old Lady By. It certainly lives up to its title.

This is swoon music. The whole album – and Anger Management in particular – is transcendental. It’s putting yourself in a red velvet bedroom with mirrors on the ceiling. It’s sitting in a smoky barroom watching the female lounge singer lick her lips and run her hands down her sides. It’s red lipstick and black garters and cigar smoke and maybe even a few dollars on the nightstand in the morning. The music, the words, the sultriness all entwine and mingle and whisper in your ear, hushed invitations you don’t dare turn down.

Jennifer Charles’s voice is so lustful, so oozing with sensuality, that in Archie and Veronica, she makes grieving seem almost pornographic.

I look funny all dressed in black
My wet handkerchief won’t bring you back
Now they’re lowering you down
You feel me from underground

You’ll need a cigarette after listening to these songs.

Favorite songs: Anger Management and Archie & Veronica
But do NOT miss their awesome cover of Berlin’s Sex (I’m a)
